People · ruled by Venus

The best days to propose.

Partnership belongs to the 7th house, and love belongs to Venus. For something meant to last, tradition avoids Venus retrograde, a void-of-course Moon and the weeks around an eclipse.

Here’s what the sky is checked for.

How the app answers it

Prism’s Plan screen for “First date”: the best windows in the weeks ahead and the days to avoid

The app’s answer · First date

Jupiter flows with your Uranus. Time spent on play may feel free and full of fun. A supportive season for a first date; these days make the most of it.

Your confidence to make the first move may feel stronger. Your best stretch for a first date in the next 30 days, and a strong one.

How this plan is read

Four things decide a day to propose.

The planet

Venus

It rules love, pleasure, money, beauty. Each day, the planner checks its condition. Is it moving forward or retrograde? Is it strong or weak in its sign? Is Venus or Jupiter helping it? Are Mars or Saturn putting pressure on it? Is it too close to the Sun?

The houses

7th & 5th

Each house is an area of life. These houses cover partners and contracts, and romance, fun and creativity. When the Moon passes through the matching signs (Libra, Leo), the day scores higher.

The Moon

A growing Moon

New starts go with a growing (waxing) Moon, ideally a day or two after the new moon. The last days of the cycle count against them. So do the hours when the Moon is void of course, which means it makes no more major angles before it changes sign.

Hard rules

Eclipse weeks

Nothing is ruled out completely. But anything new loses points in the week around an eclipse, because eclipses are unpredictable.

What the sky is checked for

Venus, the Moon, and two hard rules.

  • Venus is the planet that rules this plan. Is it moving forward or retrograde? Is it strong in its sign? Is it too close to the Sun? Do Venus or Jupiter help it, or do Mars or Saturn put pressure on it?
  • The Moon should be growing, so that what you start grows too. It should not be void of course during your waking hours. It helps when it is in a sign that suits the plan (the sign of the 7th house or the sign of the 5th house in the natural zodiac).
  • Mercury retrograde counts against the day if the plan involves messages or travel.
  • Eclipses are unpredictable, so the days around one count against anything new.

The five colours

  • Hard Things meet real resistance. Keep plans simple, expect some conflict and be kind to yourself.
  • Tense There is some pressure. A good day for hard work, but not for asking favours.
  • Steady An ordinary day. Nothing helps or blocks you much. A good day for routine.
  • Flow Things go your way more often than not. A good day to take the first step.
  • Harmony The planets favour you today. Ask for things, start things and celebrate.

Steady, leaning flow · leaning tense

Questions

When is the best time to propose?

It depends on your birth chart. Tradition looks at Venus, the planet that rules this plan, and at the Moon. Prism’s Plan follows them day by day against your own chart and gives you the best windows in the weeks ahead, the days to avoid and the reason for each.

Which planet rules propose?

Venus (love, pleasure, money, beauty). Partnership belongs to the 7th house, and love belongs to Venus. For something meant to last, tradition avoids Venus retrograde, a void-of-course Moon and the weeks around an eclipse.

Is Mercury retrograde a bad time to propose?

It matters less here, because Venus rules this plan, not Mercury. Expect the usual small mistakes in messages and travel plans, and check details twice.

What Moon phase is best to propose?

A growing (waxing) Moon, between the new moon and the full moon. A day or two after the new moon is ideal. Tradition starts things while the Moon grows, so that they grow too. It avoids the last few days before the new moon. It also avoids days when the Moon is void of course, which means it makes no more major angles before it changes sign.

Is the answer the same for everyone?

No. The same sky touches different points and houses in different charts. That is why Prism asks for your birth date, time and place, and why two people with the same sun sign get different windows.
