A whole chart, not just a sign.
-
The wheel
Your sky drawn as astrologers draw it: signs, houses, the four angles and every planet, with the aspects between them in five colours.

Your big three
Sun, Moon and Rising, each in a line written for your exact sign, and what the three mean together.
-
Chart ruler
The planet that steers your chart, where it sits, and where your life tends to gather.

Every planet
Sign, degree, house and dignity for all ten planets and the lunar node, with what each one means for you.

Questions
What is a birth chart?
A map of the sky at the moment and place of your birth. It shows where the Sun, the Moon and every planet were in the zodiac. It also shows which planets were rising, setting or overhead, and the angles between them. Astrologers use it to describe your character: what drives you, what you need and how you meet other people.
What are the big three?
Your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. The Sun is your basic character and purpose. The Moon is your emotional needs. The Rising sign (or Ascendant) is the sign that was rising on the eastern horizon when you were born. It describes how you meet other people.
Why do I need my birth time?
The Rising sign and the houses move through the whole zodiac every day, about one sign every two hours. Without a birth time, they cannot be known. The Moon moves about 13° a day, so on some days it also changes sign. The calculator tells you if this happened on your birthday. Everything else is still accurate without a time.
Which house system do you use?
Placidus, the most widely used system and the one the Prism app uses, so your chart here matches your chart in the app. Above the polar circles, Placidus cannot be calculated for some times of day. There the calculator uses Porphyry and tells you.
What are the houses?
Twelve divisions of the sky as seen from your birthplace, starting at the eastern horizon. Each stands for an area of life: self, money, words, home, pleasure, work, partners, shared things, horizons, career, friends and the hidden. A planet’s house says where in life it does its work.
What is the chart ruler?
The planet that rules your rising sign: Mars for Aries rising, Venus for Taurus, and so on (traditional rulers). Its sign and house colour the whole chart, so astrologers read it early.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No. The chart is computed in your browser with an astronomical library. Your birth details are kept only in the page address, after the #. This part never reaches a server. You can bookmark or share your result. Only the place name you type is sent to GeoNames, a public place directory, to suggest matching towns.
How accurate is it?
Planet positions come from astronomy-engine, accurate to a small fraction of a degree. Houses and the true lunar node are checked against Swiss Ephemeris, the reference most astrologers use. Time zones and daylight saving, including historical changes, come from your browser’s time-zone database.
