Solar eclipse

A solar eclipse is a new moon that passes in front of the Sun. In astrology, it is a strong new beginning, often one you did not plan. New opportunities can appear suddenly. Tradition says you should notice what starts around it, rather than force things to start.

Lunar eclipse

A lunar eclipse is a full moon in the Earth’s shadow. In astrology, it is a strong ending or high point. Something becomes visible or comes to an end. Feelings are strong, and situations that have been growing reach a decision point.

Eclipse season

Eclipses come in groups called seasons, about every six months. In each season, a solar and a lunar eclipse happen about two weeks apart. For about eighteen months, they fall in the same pair of opposite signs. Astrologers see the weeks around an eclipse as unpredictable. They are good for noticing changes, but not for big, carefully planned starts.
